As the practice continued to grow, we moved into our new hospital in 1993 and shortened the name to Animal Care Associates. Affiliation with AAHA ( American Animal Hospital Association) was also established in 1993. Animal Care Associates is one of only a few hospitals in the whole state of WV to have this affiliation.Animal Care has always treated a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, birds and exotics. We continue this commitment today.

Dr. Gunnoe also served as Board president for three years and guided the animal shelter through two major destructive floods. It was a busy 20 years!

Dr. Webster grew up in Teays Valley, West Virginia, and has been interested in Veterinary Medicine since he was five. He and his parents trained dogs and exhibited them in Obedience for 15 years. Scruffy, the first dog he trained, was an intelligent and headstrong terrier that became the eighth Cairn registered by the American Kennel Club to earn a Utility Degree. Volunteering at the local Animal Shelter gave him first hand experience with the overcrowding, disease and funding problems that plague the shelter system.

Dr Slack graduated from Charleston Catholic High School in 2008 and went on to attend West Virginia University. After receiving her degree in Animal and Nutritional Sciences at WVU, she went on to study at Mississippi State University, where she graduated with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
During her studies at Mississippi State, Dr. Slack gave much of her time working with a local mobile spay/neuter program, providing much-needed assistance to many area shelters throughout Mississippi.
Another memorable experience for Dr. Slack was the opportunity to travel to South Africa, where she was able to work with giraffes, cape buffalo, and many other native species. She has a sweet kitty named Beatrice, whose favorite activities include sleeping on Mom's lap under a blanket, or spying on the household by hiding behind open doors while peering thru the crack.
